Chris Stewart owns and operates Surface Solutions International, Inc. Chris began his career in San Diego, California working in basic concrete construction. There he was introduced into the world of decorative concrete while working with for first company to successfully challenge and defeat a patented concrete stamping process. The stamping process was well known by landscape architects and designers as the Bomanite process. Work was being sole source specified for well budgeted commercial and residential projects. Bomanite Corporation itself was a nationwide franchisor that licensed and trained contractors to perform the work. As a licensee the contractor paid royalties for the square footage they installed. Since the process was only known by Bomanite contractor training was a problem for anyone other than Bomanite contractors. Over the next couple of years Chris honed his stamping skills while working for the company.

In 1979 Chris started his own decorative business in the North County San Diego area. Through the school of hard knocks he developed new techniques and coloring methods of installing decorative concrete. Eventually he decided to join the network of Bomanite licensees which gave him exclusive rights to San Diego County. This moved the company into the larger specification driven market of commercial and municipal projects. He continued as a Bomanite licensee for 15 more years where he created processes to evolve the decorative concrete industry. In 1997 Bomanite Corporation invited Chris to be a part of the ownership successor team where he would serve as VP of Technical Services. He accepted and moved to the Sierra foothills outside of Yosemite. Bomanite Corporate Headquarters was in Madera, Ca near Fresno. The 5 years that followed found him working in all parts of the world training Bomanite contractors in the art of decorative concrete. During his tenure at Bomanite Corporation he was responsible for developing stamping tools, staining and dying techniques, concrete overlays, micro-toppings, Grasscrete and related decorative processes.

In 2002 Chris parted ways with Bomanite and entered back into the construction industry as a contractor and consultant. Surface Solutions International, Inc was born in 2003.
